 Reflect
Today is Palm Sunday - also known as Passion Sunday. It is also the start of Holy Week, one of the most important times for Christians.
During Lent, we have been preparing ourselves to remember the events surrounding Jesus' death and resurrection. We have been preparing ourselves for the annual remembrance of everything that happened, starting with Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, and ending with his death on the cross and his resurrection.
Today we remember Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, just a few days before his death on the cross. Jesus had stayed clear of Jerusalem until this point, but he knew that his time had come. He knew that it was now the moment to do the things that he had come down to earth for.
What is surprising about Palm Sunday is the reaction that Jesus gets from the crowds as he enters Jerusalem. They are waving palm branches (hence the name of the day) and shouting his name and even saying 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!'
It's amazing that only days later, those same crowds would call for his death and show him little sympathy as he is led to his executuion.
Perhaps the main lesson of Palm Sunday is that is we believe in something, we need to stick with it through thick and thin; when things are tough, as well as when they are easy.
What about us?
Do we stick with things that we know are important? Or do we give up when they get a bit difficult? Are we like Jesus, who was faithful to the end? Or are we like the crowds... supportive one minute, fickle the next?
 Pray
Loving Father,
As we begin Holy Week, help us to be strong in all that we do, and help us to stick by those things that we believe are important and valuable.
Help us to use this week to learn more and more about the things your Son did for us, and the love he has for us.
Amen.
