Footsteps through Lent...

[Saturday Mar 27th]

Reflect

This evening at 8.30pm is Earth Hour.

We are invited, for this hour, to turn off all non-essential lights and electrical appliances. The hope is that the visible lack of light and the sacrifice made will send an important message and remind us of the importance of looking after our planet.

Lent is a good time to ask ourselves if we are properly looking after the things that God has given us, and the environment is one of the most important of those things.

We hear a lot these days about saving the planet and looking after the world. So much so, probably, that it just washes over us. But it's an important thing to consider. The world around us is a precious thing and human beings, by and large, are not treating it well.

Whether you join Earth Hour this evening or not, spare a thought for the world around us today.

Pray

Loving Father,

Help us to look after the beautiful world you have given us and help us to live in a way that doesn't cause it harm.

We ask you especially today to work in the hearts and minds of all those who make decisions about our planet.

Amen.

Challenge

You can probably guess what your challenge for today is...

That's right... Earth Hour. From 8.30 tonight, see how much power you can save and how many lights and appliances you can turn off!
