 Reflect
Today is a very special day in the Catholic Church.
On this day, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Annunciation, which celebrates the visit of the Angel Gabriel to a young woman named Mary..
..the rest is history!
The Angel Gabriel told Mary not to be afraid and told her that she had won God's favour.
He went on to tell her that she would conceive and give birth to a child and that this child would be very special indeed.
As we know, this child would be the Son of God. He would teach us, heal us, love us, lead us, and eventually he would die for us, only to rise from the dead a few days later.
The story of Jesus Christ is a famous and brilliant one, but it all started with something very simple.
It all started because a young girl said yes to God. Without even a moment of hesitation she simply looked at the angel and said...
'I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let what you have said be done to me.' [from Luke Chapter 1]
We are al asked by God to do certain things. Maybe not in such a dramatic way, but we all have a good idea of the things that we should do and the things that we shouldn't, and we are asked by God to chose what's right.
One of the simplest, yet the most effective things that we can do is simply to say yes to these things.
You might feel that God is asking you to forgive somebody, or to stop doing something. You might feel that God wants you to reach out to a certain person, or to be more supportine in your family.
The challenge is simply to say YES!
 Pray
Loving Father,
On this Solemnity of the Annunciation, we remember how much you care for your people and we remmeber that you can do amazing things, through even the most humble of people.
Give us the peace to hear the things you are asking us to do in life, and give us the love and the grace to simply say YES.
Amen.
 Challenge
Your challenge today is to read the Gospel reading. (Luke 1:26-38). If you can't find a bible or Missal, you can read it online. (here, for instance!)
