 Reflect
In 1953, two men named Edmund Hilary and Tenzing Norgay became the first men to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
Nobody had ever conquered Everest before, and many had died trying. The British team, of which Hilary and Tenzing were a part, wouldn't have had another chance for quite some time after 1953, and so they had to succeed.
They battled through the grueling climb, the harsh conditions, and through their own doubts and fears, and eventually they made it to the top.

One thing that you discover in life is that very little that is remarkable is easy. There is virtually no great invention, discovery or achievement that didn't follow a lot of hard work.
Each of us will have things in life that we want to achieve. Some will be easy, but many will take a lot of hard work and dedication.
Perhaps we can use this Lent to think about the things that we really want to do in life and how we are going to work toward them.
 Pray
Loving Father,
You created us with a spirit of adventure and imagination. You allow us to imagine the things that are possible, and you give us the ability to work for those things.
Help us to be people who live up to the great potential you gave us. Help us not to give up in the face of hardship, but to persevere with courage and love.
In all things, help us to work for others.
Amen.
 Challenge
Your challenge for today is to have a bit of a think...
Think about somebody who has achieved something great and ask yourself what it was that made them succeed.
