As well as being Mothers' Day today is also Laetare Sunday in the Catholic Church.
The word Laetare means rejoice. The fourth Sunday of Lent is pretty much half way through Lent and so Laetare Sunday is a way of encouraging us and helping us to push on through to the end.
Today is a good time to look back over the first weeks of Lent and to ask ourselves how it's been going.
What has been enjoyable and rewarding about the past few weeks? What has made you rejoice and be happy?
 Pray
Loving Father,
We give thanks to you, wh created us and give us all good things.
Help us to be people who always rejoice in what is good, and help us to see the good fruits that this Lent has brought.
Amen.
 Challenge
Your challenge today is to do one small thing to rejoice.
Perhaps you can do something you enjoy, or spend time with somebody you like.
It may be something you were planning to do anyway. In which case, that's okay!
