Footsteps through Lent...

[Thursday Mar 11th]

Reflect

The following words come from the book of Jeremiah, which is the first Reading at today's Mass:

'Listen to my voice. I will be your God and you shall be my people. Follow right to the end, the way that I mark out for you, and you will prosper.'

These words seem quite simple... we believe in God and so we follow the things that he asks us to do. Quite often though, it's not that simple. We believe in God and we try to follow him, but when we get down to it, it all seems to go a bit wrong. Temptations come along, things frustrate us, and sometimes we just forget or get too tired. The point is that we all have times when we wonder away from that way that God marks out for us.

The good news though, is that God is loving and forgiving. He doesn't give up on us and he doesn't hold our mistakes against us. If we are sorry for the times when we've messed it up a bit, then God will always forgive us.

Pray

Loving Father,

You made us with love and care and you set out a path for our lives to bring us to joy and to bring us to a happy and meaningful life.

Help us to recognise those times when we have strayed from your path and help us to find the way back.

Amen.

Challenge

Your challenge today is to have a think about your life and about your journey with God.

Try to think about all the ways in which you do good and all the ways in which you are living as a Christian should. Give thanks for those.

Try to think too about one thing that you can do a little better.
