Footsteps through Lent...

[First Sunday of Lent | Feb 21st]

Reflect

Today is Sunday - the day in the week that we usually put aside for practicing our faith and for thinking about our relationship with God.

To be Christian means different things to different people. To some people, their faith is a huge part of their everyday lives. To others, it's something in the background that only comes out every so often.

If we let it, then our faith in God can transform our lives in lots of good and positive ways. But do we really let it?

If we are the sort of people who keep our faith in the background, then Lent is a time to change that and to ask ourselves how we can make it a bigger part of our lives.

Do we take enough time to pray? Do we bring our beliefs in to how we make decisions? Do we try to see God in others? Do we let our faith stop us from doing the things that we shouldn't?

Pray

Loving Father,

Bring me closer to you.

Help me to let you into my life and into my heart.

Show me that there's nothing to be afraid of.

In all things, let me know how much you love me.

Amen.

Challenge

Today is Sunday, so you'll probably be going to Mass. If you're not a regular Mass person, then Lent is a good time to get back into the swing of it!

Anyway... so often we go to Mass and it just washes over us. We're there and we listen - sort of - but we don't really take it in. We miss the beautiful stories that are being told to us about who we are and about what God has done for us.

So here's your challenge for today... Go to Mass and really listen. Especially to the Eucharistic Prayer and the priest's homily. Try to take it in and reflect on what it means.
